Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower

A ridge associated with the Bermuda-Azores high held to the south on the 1st, with very warm, dry weather, and 11.2 hours of sunshine. The high reached 87F/31C with a low of 81F/27C. A low passing well to the north on the 2nd produced a few convergent showers over the area (trace at airport) with brief afternoon thunder and 11.1 hours of sunshine. Temperatures again ranged from 87F/31C down to 81F/27C. The 3rd was mainly fair despite a weak front approaching from the north. There were 6.9 hours of sunshine and a brief shower produced 0.03" of rain. The high was 88F/31C, the low 80F/27C. The front remained near to the north on the 4th. Showers brought 0.11" of rain, though there were still 8 hours of sunshine. The high was 87F/31C and the low was a rain-cooled 76F/24C. Friday 5th was mainly cloudy, but dry in the morning, before a few showers developed during the afternoon and evening, with 0.03mm of rainfall. A thunderstorm was recorded nearby in the evening. The winds were moderate west to southwest, with a few strong gusts recorded, one to 28 knots. The high was 87F/31C with a minimum of 79F/26C. Only 5.1 hours of sunshine were recorded. Saturday 6th started mainly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, which gave a gust of 29 knots and brought 0.07" of rain. These cleared away by late morning with the rest of the day becoming dry and increasingly sunny. There were 10.6 hours of sunshine and the maximum temperature reached 87F/31C, with the minimum falling to 76F/25C. Sunday 7th was mainly fine with 11.1 hours of sunshine, though an isolated shower did bring 0.09" of rain and conditions were rather breezy. The high was 87F/31C, the low 79F/26C. The 8th was mainly fair with 11.6 hours of sun, although evening showers produced 0.14" of rain in association with an approaching front. The high was 88F/31C, the low 79F/26C. The 9th saw a few light showers and distant thunderstorms as the disorganised front passed southwards through the area. A trace of rain was recorded with a high of 87F/30C, a low of 79F/26C, and 10.9 hours of sunshine. Early morning showers on Wednesday 10th soon gave way to a mostly sunny day after 0.34" of rain were recorded.
High pressure began to build from the north and the high for the day was 86F/30C with a low of 75F/24C and 10.7 hours of sunshine. With the exception of drying east winds and a maximum humidity of 71% (low for August), the 11th was seasonal with a high of 86F/30C, a low of 77F/25C, 11.6 sun hours and no rain. Under continued influence from the ridge, the 12th held lower than normal humidity levels in place under sunny skies (12.5 hours) with no local precipitation. The high was 86F/28C after a morning low of 76F/25C. The 13th saw 12 hours of sunshine and very little cloud with no rain. The maximum was 85F/30C with a minimum of 77F/25C. The 14th was dry and sunny with 12.6 hours of sunshine. The high was 85F/29C, the low 77F/25C. High pressure near to the north provided finer, dry weather for Monday 15th. 11.3 hours of sun were recorded with a high of 85F/29C and a low of 77F/25C. The high continued to provide fine weather for Tuesday 16th. There was no rain and 10 hours of sunshine with a high of 86F/30C and a low of 80F/26C. Wednesday 17th remained settled as the ridge persisted in the area. The high was 87F/31C with a low of 79F/26C and 6.9 hours of sunshine. There was little change to the weather pattern through the 18th and 19th with high pressure dominating. There were a full 12.4 hours of sunshine both days with no rain, highs both days of 88F/31C and lows of 80F/27C and 81F/27C respectively.
Under general high pressure influence, a Morgan's Cloud set up in the afternoon of the 20th on light to moderate southwest winds, with a shower developing (0.22"), isolated thunder and an observed funnel cloud over St. Georges Parish. The high reached 88F/31C with a low of 78F/26C and 7.7 hours of sunshine. Sunday 21st saw a morning thunderstorm and an evening shower amounting to 0.08"; otherwise it was fair and sunny (10.6 hours). The high was 88F/31C, the low 79F/26C. Monday 22nd was a rather unsettled day as a pre-frontal trough moved into the area with showers in the vicinity. However, only three light morning showers affected the airfield, giving 0.01". The maximum temperature was 89F/32C and the low temperature was 82F/28C; these were the peak temperatures of the summer so far. The 23rd and 24th were influenced by warm, moist air being advected into the area as the remnants of Fiona passed to the south, and a front moved in from the northwest. Overcast conditions with showers and thunderstorms moved across the area both days with no sun on the 23rd and just 0.7 hours on the 24th. 0.80" of rainfall fell on the 23rd with 1.17" on the 24th. This brought some localized flooding to the island, especially on the 23rd when there were several lightning strikes, including one at the weather service. The high on the 23rd was 84F/29C with a rain-cooled low of 73F/23C. The 24th saw a high of 86F/30C with another rain-cooled low of 73F/23C. Thursday the 25th remained unsettled with a slow moving front in the area. There was 0.08" of rain and 2.9 hours of sunshine with a high of 83F/28C and a low of 77F/25C. A weak frontal boundary brought 0.15" of rain on Friday the 26th while still allowing 6.4 hours of sunshine. The high was 85F/29C and the low was 77F/25C. Saturday the 27th was mainly settled as a shallow low pressure center to the southwest kept a few showers near the area before moving away. The high for the day was 87F/31C, with a low of 80F/27C, and 10.8 hours of sunshine.
