Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower

Monday September 1st had a couple of light showers bringing 0.06" of precipitation as building high pressure brought light and variable winds. The high was 85F/30C with a low of 75F/24C and 9.9 hours of sunshine. Tuesday the 2nd continued to be dominated by high pressure with a high of 86F/30C, a low of 75F/24C, and 10.1 hours of sunshine. Wednesday the 3rd and Thursday the 4th remained under the influence of high pressure that produced 11.3 hours of sunshine for both days and no rainfall. Highs peaked at 87F/30C on the Wednesday, while overnight lows dipped to 76F/24C on the Thursday. The 5th saw a weak trough moving through the dominant ridge, with a trace of rain in a morning shower and 10.5 hours of sunshine. The high was 86F/30C after a low of 77F/25C. High pressure held drying subsidence in place on the 6th on light easterly winds with a high of 85F/29C, a low of 76F/24C and 11.1 hours of sunshine. The 7th and 8th saw the high pressure remain in control with scattered cloud and 11.2 hours of sunshine on both days. Highs reached 86F/30C on both days with a low of 75F/24C on the 7th. Similar conditions persisted on the 9th with a high of 87F/30C, a low of 76F/24C, no precipitation and 11.6 hours of sunshine. Despite some weakening of the surface ridge on Wednesday the 10th, it maintained fine and dry conditions with 11.7 hours of sunshine, a high of 86F/30C and a low of 75F/24C.
Thursday the 11th saw a few vicinity showers as a disorganised trough filtered into eastern areas. The high was 86F/30C with a low of 77F/25C. Mostly scattered cloud allowed 11.4 hours of sun. The trough then moved through the area on Thursday the 12th bringing a few showers. The high was 85F/30C, the low 74F/23C, with 0.23" of precipitation and 8.7 hours of sunshine. Saturday the 13th saw high pressure rebuild across the area bringing a return to mainly fair conditions with 9.8 hours of sunshine and just a couple of showers giving 0.03" of rainfall. The high was 85F/30C with a low of 77F/25C. Sunday the 14th saw the high pressure holding, bringing 10 hours of sunshine and 0.01" of rainfall. The high was 87F/31C with a low of 77F/25C. The 15th saw the high remain in place, with 10.4 hours of sunshine. The high was 86F/30C with a low of 76F/24C. The 16th saw - briefly major, category 3 - Hurricane Edouard bypass the Island to the distant east, around 380nm away. The only direct impact was enhanced surf on south shore due to long period swells. Across the Island, some likely convergence set off a couple of late showers and a thunderstorm, producing 0.14" of precipitation. The high was 87F/30C, with a low of 75F/24C and 8.5 hours of sunshine. Cloud cover and a couple showers lingered into Wednesday the 17th, in advance of a developing low to the west. The high reached 86F/30C with a low of 78F/25C. 0.07" of rain fell and 4.9 hours of sun shone. Strong winds were present through most of the 18th as complex low pressure moved by to the northwest and steered an active trough into the area. Showers and thunderstorms present along the front brought 0.28" of rainfall, and a gust of 41 knots was recorded during a heavy afternoon shower. The high temperature was 85F/29C with a low of 73F/23C and 2.5 hours of sunshine. The low pressure system then brought a cold front through the area during the pre-dawn hours of Friday the 19th with several showers amounting to 0.22" of precipitation. The high was 84F/29C with a rain-cooled low of 72F/22C. Sunshine was limited to 3.9 hours.
Conditions settled on the 20th as subsidence developed over the area, providing 11 hours of sunshine, a high of 86F/30C, a low of 77F/25C and no precipitation. Sunday the 21st saw a low develop to our west and pass to our northwest. This brought mostly cloudy skies with 5.7 hours of sunshine, strong winds with a peak wind of 28 knots but no precipitation. The high was 85F/30C with a low of 79F/26C. Monday the 22nd saw the associated frontal boundary of the low that passed to our northwest on Sunday, approach the area and stall to our near northwest. Mostly cloudy skies with 3.5 hours of sunshine, showers and thunderstorms that produced 0.18" of rainfall and a peak wind of 33 knots. The high was 84F/29C with a low of 75F/24C. A nearby surface ridge maintained fair and warm conditions on the 23rd with a high temperature of 87F/30C, a low of 78F/26C, 11 hours of sunshine and no precipitation. Fair weather continued on Wednesday the 24th with no precipitation, 10.8 hours of sunshine, a high of 86F/30C and a low of 76/25C. As high pressure began to retreat further northeast of the area on the 25th, an easterly wave brought a few showers through with 0.04" of rain, 8.2 hours of sun. The high reached 86F/30C after a low of 76F/24C. The 26th saw light southeast winds and 9.9 hours of sun as a weak upper ridge held general subsidence in place, although a few isolated showers brought a trace of rainfall. The high was 86F/30C with a low of 76F/24C. A low passing to the north early on the 27th brought a weak frontal boundary through, with developing showers and 0.28" of rain and 6.0 hours of sun. After a low of 75F/24C, the high again reached 86F/30C. Sunday the 28th brought a significant development of a slow-moving low pressure area which passed almost directly over the Island in the evening. Under 3.7 hours of sun, 1.26" of rain fell, with thunderstorms and strong winds developing from the evening. The high reached 81F/27C with a low of 70F/21C. Monday the 29th saw the low pressure center over the area slowly move away from Bermuda towards the northwest. Mostly cloudy skies with 4.1 hours of sunshine. Showers developed across the area with isolated thunderstorms produced 1.18" of rainfall with a peak wind of 34 knots and a few waterspouts was observed off the east end of the island. The high was 82F/28C with a low of 70F/21C.
