Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower

A cold front moved through on New Year's Day with little activity impacting the island. Received a min/max of 72.5F/22.5C and 68.5F/20.3C with 8.6 hours of sunshine. A high centre drifted towards Bermuda on the 2nd, easing winds considerably and helping minimums dip down to 58.6F/14.8C after a maximum of 69.1/20.6C. The high remained nearby on the 3rd giving us a settled but cool day of 68.7F/20.4C after dipping to 56F/13.4C in radiational cooling. Some cloud moved in thus giving 8.5hrs of sunshine. As the high exited to the east on the 4th winds veered SW and the high rose to 73F/23C. A strong cold front on the 5th produced widespread Gales with the airport peaking at 52 knots. The high was 75F/24C, the low 61F/16C while 0.19" of rainfall fell. A trace of rainfall fell on the 6th as we saw mostly cloudy skies and a cooler high of only 66F/19C as high pressure built in behind the departed strong cold front that passed on the 5th. The 6th was quiet as high pressure hung on to our south and east, though we did see a peak of 24 knots late due to an approaching cold front. We were dry and had a high of 69F/21C and a low of 63F/17C. A cold front passed on the 8th with 0.08" of rainfall and a peak wind of 33 knots. The high reached 71F/22C and the low fell to 62F/17C. Increasing high pressure on the 9th, slowly approaching near-record readings overnight after max and min of 67F/19C and 60F/16C. The 10th brought a maximum daily surface pressure of 1041.1hPa, highest on record for Jan. Otherwise, typical wintering weather with a max and min of 66F/19C and 67F/15C. For most of the 11th the trapped cloud lingered and moderate east winds veered SE by evening. The high reached 70F/21C and there was a trace of rainfall when shallow light showers moved over us. On the 12 the cloud was much thinner and the ridge axis planted firmly overhead dissipating the Sc early morning. Winds remained southerly and temperatures rose with the inflow of light southerly winds, recording a high near 73F/23C and low around 65.7C/18.7C. High pressure dominated on the 13th with light wind and no precipitation. The high reached 72F/22C while the low dipped to 63F/17C.The high pressure pattern continued on the 14th with 6.8 hours of sunshine. We are halfway through the month with only 0.28" of rainfall. We surpassed the 70 degree mark for the 5th day in a row on the 15th as we reached 71F/22C while the low dipped to 65F/18C. A cold front passed through overnight with 0.07" of rainfall while the peak gust was 22 knots from the west-southwest. Another stronger cold front passed overnight with 1.12" of rainfall with a peak wind of 37 knots. The high was 71F/22C and the low was 65F/18C.Cold and very windy on the 17 as an Arctic blast pushes south over Bermuda. We recorded 67F/20C and 51F/11 with 0.15" of rain and a 48 knot wind gust from the northwest. Weather eased during the day after a windy morning on the18th with just a trace of rain with a max of 62F/16C and min of 52F/11C.
