Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower

April began rather unsettled with a few isolated morning showers (0.01"), mostly cloudy skies and strong winds, gusting as high as 36 knots, thanks to a deep low to the north. The high was 66F/19C with a low of 61F/16C and 5.9 hours of sunshine. As the low retreated northeast, Wednesday the 2nd became more settled, with diminishing clouds and slowly easing northwesterly winds. The high reached 67F/20C after a low of 63F/17C with 9.2 sunshine hours. High pressure then built in from the west towards the south on the 3rd. Moderate west-northwest winds prevailed with no rain, 10 hours of sun, a high of 74F/24C and a low of 63F/17C. Friday the 4th was mainly fine with 8.7 hours of sunshine and no rainfall. The high was 73F/23C and the low 67F/19C. High pressure continued to the south for Saturday the 5th with more fine weather. There were 10.5 hours of sunshine and continued dry conditions. The high was again near 73F/23C and the low 67F/19C.
During the morning of Sunday the 6th, a pre-frontal convergent trough developed, bringing unsettled conditions through the middle of the day with 0.98" of rainfall and just 0.6 hours of sunshine. The high temperature was 72F/22C and the low was 62F/17C. Monday the 7th saw brief high pressure return with 7.5 hours of sunshine, no precipitation, a high of 72F/22C and a low of 66F/20C. Fair and dry conditions continued on the 8th with 10.2 hours of sunshine. The high was 74F/24C and the low 69F/20C. The 9th then saw a vigorous frontal boundary pass during mid-evening, bringing 0.19" of rain. Ahead of the front, windy but dry conditions prevailed with 8.9 hours of hazy sunshine. Winds increased near gale force at times with a gust to 41 knots. The high was a warm and humid 75F/24C, while frontal passage cooled temperatures to 65F/18C overnight.
The 10th saw high pressure building across to the north, with strong winds easing and veering northeast, no rain and 10.2 hours of sunshine. The high was 69F/21C after a low of 63F/17C. The 11th then recorded 9.4 hours of sunshine with a high of 69F/21C, a low of 61F/16C and no rain again, as the high to the north held moderate easterly winds in place. The relatively settled pattern continued for Saturday the 12th with mainly fair weather and just an isolated light shower producing a trace of rainfall. There were 3.2 hours of sunshine. The high was 69F/21C and the low 62F/17C. The high remained to the north on the 13th provided more fine weather. Early morning showers produced 0.02" of rain, followed by 10.3 hours of sunshine. The high was 71F/22C and the low 63F/17C. Monday the 15th saw the ridge weaken from the east, allowing a few light evening and late night showers to filter into the area in association with a passing trough to the south. The high was 73F/23C, the low 65F/18C, with a trace of precipitation and 8.3 hours of sunshine. The ridge of high pressure maintained fair condition on Tuesday the 16th with 10.9 hours of sunshine and only a trace of precipitation. The high was 73F/23C with a low of 68F/20C. Fair conditions continued on Wednesday the 17th with no precipitation and 8 hours of sunshine. The high was 74F/24C and the low was 69F/21C.
