Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower
NOTE: To print graphs enable background printing in your browser print options.

July 1st and 2nd brought moderate southwest flow through a dominant ridge extending over the area from the Bermuda-Azores high anchored to the east. Weak convergence provided 0.01" of precipitation in a couple of showers on the 1st with a high of 86F/30C, a low of 80F/26C and 10.7 hours of sunshine. The 2nd was dry with a high of 86F/30C, a low of 79F/26C and 12.2 hours of sunshine. The 3rd was a fine, dry and mostly sunny day. The high was 86F/30C and the low 79F/26C. There were 11.6 hours of sunshine. The 4th was a generally fine day, though some brief isolated showers moved through late in the afternoon. Only a trace of rainfall was recorded with 12 hours of sun. The high for the day was 87F/31C and the low 79F/26C. The same temperatures were measured on the 5th with 12.3 hours of sunshine and no precipitation. High pressure remained dominant on Monday the 6th providing 9.9 hours of sunshine and no rainfall. However, there were a few showers in the vicinity and distant lightning was observed towards the southeast. The high reached 86F/30C with a low of 80F/27C. Isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms were recorded on the 7th as a weak frontal boundary moved through the area. 6.8 hours of sunshine were registered with 0.03" of rain falling. The high for the day was 86F/30C with a low of 79F/26C. Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th were influenced by high pressure centred to the southwest of Bermuda that brought fair and dry conditions with 9.8 hours of sunshine on Wednesday and 11.5 hours on Thursday. Moderate breezes gradually veered into the northwest. The high Wednesday was 86F/30C with a low of 77F/25C. Thursdays high was 86F/30C with a low of 80F/27C.
Winds and clouds increased for Friday the 10th as a frontal trough approached from the north. Early afternoon and overnight showers produced 0.04" of rain. The high was 87F/31C with a low of 80F/26C and 8.4 hours of sunshine. Saturday the 11th had a few showers and isolated thunderstorms as a weak cold front slowly passed through the area and then settled to the near south as a stationary front. Winds increased around the showers, with a peak gust of 32 knots. There were 0.07" of precipitation with a high of 87F/31C, a low of 78F/26C, and just 1.9 hours of sunshine. On the 12th, a post-frontal convergent airmass produced showers with 0.05" of rain and a few distant thunderstorms. Light to moderate west-northwesterly winds strengthened briefly with a gust to 29 knots in the convective outflow. The high was 85F/29C with a low of 75F/24C and 5.2 sun hours. Moist southwesterly flow ushered more showers into the area at times on the 13th, with 0.14" of rain and a gust to 30 knots. The high was 88F/31C with a low of 77F/25C and 10.3 hours of sunshine. TS Claudette formed 350nm to our north-northwest and posed no threat. The 14th was cloudy with showers and moderate to occasionally strong southwesterly winds. 8 hours of sunshine was recorded and 0.04" of rain. The high for the day was 88F/31C and the low was 77F/25C. Distant TS Claudette dissipated overnight.
The 15th was breezy with isolated showers and a gust of 27 knots. 10.9 hours of sunshine and 0.01" of rain were recorded. The high was 87F/31C and the low 78F/26C. A light morning shower then provided just a trace of rainfall on the 16th. Otherwise fair weather persisted with 10.5 hours of sunshine and a high of 87F/31C and a low of 80F/27C. Near record heat was recorded on the 17th with a high of 89F/32C, 9.5 hours of sunshine, no precipitation and a low temperature of 79F/26C. The weekend of the 18th and 19th was initially influenced by a boundary to the near northwest, which gradually moves away northeast later in the period. Mainly fair conditions prevailed for much of the weekend with west to south-westerly breezes, 5.9 hours of sunshine on Saturday and 10.6 hours on Sunday. However, a few showers moved across the area, bringing 0.57" of rainfall on Saturday and 0.11" on Sunday. These more considerable rains helped break the persistent dry spell, although the month to date total continued to remain below average. The outflow from a shower on Sunday temporarily increased winds to 24 knots with a gust to 30 knots. The high was 85F/29C on Saturday with a low of 74F/24C. Sundays high was 86F/30C with a low of 76F/25C. Monday 20th saw further showers bringing 0.04" of rain as a trough slowly approached the area. Winds peaked at 24 knots with a gust of 30 knots in a shower. The high was 87F/30C with a low of 77F/25C and 11.7 hours of sunshine. Early morning showers greeted Tuesday the 21st as the trough passed through the area. Thunderstorms were detected in the marine area but not at the airport. Active showers brought winds up to 30 knots with a maximum gust of 41 knots. There were 0.25" of rain with a high of 86F/30C, a low of 75F/24C and 5.4 hours of sunshine. Southwesterly winds remained strong on the 22nd with a tight gradient ahead of an approaching front. A couple of showers brought gale-force gusts and 0.07", with a high of 88F/31C, a low of 78F/25C and 8.3 hours of sun. The front stalled near to the north on the 23rd with isolated thunderstorms, strong west-southwest winds, a gust to gale force and 0.49" of precipitation. The high reached 85F/29C with a low of 75F/24C and just 1.1 hours of sunshine. On the 24th, showers and isolated thunderstorms brought gale force winds and gusts with a peak gust of 41 knots. 0.98" rain was recorded with 6.2 hours of sunshine. The high for the day was 86F/30C and the low was 75F/24C. The 25th was windy and overcast with moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms. 3.63" rain was recorded and zero sunshine hours. Peak wind gust was 38 knots with strong winds recorded. The high was 82F/28C and the low was 72F/22C. Sunday the 26th and Monday the 27th was influenced by a stall frontal boundary near the area that brought mainly fair conditions on Sunday with 9.2 hours of sunshine and a few showers that produced 0.67 of rainfall. Monday saw mainly cloudy skies with 1.8 hours of sunshine with occasional shower and isolated thunderstorm that produced 0.72 of rainfall with a peak wind of 35 knots. The high on Sunday was 86F/30C with a low of 74F/23C. Monday high was 83F/28C and a low of 75F/24C.
