Written Summary   Table One   Table Two   Graphs
Notes:
1. Mean daily temperature and pressure are averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations and not as the average of the maximum and minimum values.
2. Precipitation day has = or >0.01". Trace amounts (< 0.01") are not included in data.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Notes:
1. Mean humidity is averaged from the standard 24 hourly observations.
2. Weather Notes indicate a specific condition was observed at least once that day.
3. Departures from the normal are based on the 1971 to 2000 normals where available (with the exception of the Sea Surface Temperature, which is based on the 1985 to 2000 normal).
Key:
PN = Precipitation, PC = Partly Cloudy, MC = Mostly Cloudy, OV = Overcast, DZ = Drizzle, SH = Showers, BS = Blowing Spray GR = Hail, FC = Funnel Cloud, HZ = Haze, RA = Rain, BR = Mist, TS = Thunder Storm/Shower

Temperatures rose to 85F/29C and then fell back to 77F/26C. With the ridge holding near to the south on the 6th, moderate to strong west winds held humidity levels high with a couple of showers around (trace at the airport) and 8.3 hours of sun. The high was 85F/29C with an oppressive and humid low of 80F/27C. The pattern changed little on the 7th with moderate westerly winds and a few, mainly morning, showers (0.16"). The high reached 86F/30C with a low of 80F/27C and 10.9 hours of sunshine. The 8th and 9th saw high pressure maintain its influence across the area producing mainly fine conditions with 11.5 hours of sunshine on the 8th and 12 hours on the 9th with no rainfall either day. The high on the 8th was 86F/30C with a low of 80F/27C. The 9ths high was 87F/31C, the low of 80F/27C. A weak trough on Sunday 10th brought a few showers and distant thunderstorms to the area. Winds were strong at times with gusts up to 30 knots. The high for the day was 87F/31C with a low of 80F/26C. 0.01" of precipitation fell and 7.7 hours of sun shone.
Monday 11th continued to be breezy as a weak cold front made a gradual approach from the north. The high for the day was 86F/30C with a low of 78F/27C and 9.7 hours of sunshine. The 12th was rather unsettled with showers or rain throughout, and thunder reported around noontime. The maximum temperature was 84F/29C, the minimum a cooler 76F/25C. Wednesday the 13th of July was sunny and dry, with low humidity, down towards 50%, and light winds. There were 12.7 hours of sunshine with a maximum temperature of 82F/28C and then a low of 76F/24C. Dry weather and mainly light winds continued on the 14th, as high pressure held a weak boundary south of Bermuda. The high was 84F/29C with a low of 75F/24C and a more modest 4.9 hours of sun. The surface ridge was maintained on the 15th with just a few early showers in the vicinity and no rain at the airport. 12.1 hours of sun shone and winds were light southwesterly. The high reached 86F/30C with a low of 78F/26C. The 16th and 17th saw the ridge of high pressure drift north, allowing a weak trough to move in, producing a couple of showers and isolated thunderstorms. The 16th saw 7.5 hours of sunshine and 0.23" of rainfall while the 17th had 12.4 hours of sunshine and no rain. The high on the 16th was 84F/29C with a low of 77F/25C. The 17ths high was 86F/30C with a low 80F/27C. Monday the 18th was settled with light winds as a surface ridge persisted over the area. The high was 86F/30C, with a low of 80F/27C and 12.1 hours of sunshine. High pressure weakened over the area on Tuesday the 19th. A few showers and distant cumulonimbus tops were observed in the afternoon. There was only a trace of precipitation recorded with a high of 87F/31C, a low of 81F/27C and 11.2 hours of sunshine.
Wednesday 20th of July was an unsettled day, with showers and thunderstorms in the vicinity throughout most of the day, although remaining dry until evening, when a cluster of heavy showers pushed across the Island. Winds were mainly light to moderate, but by evening, there was a gust to 29 knots in the heavier showers which brought 0.35" of rainfall. The maximum temperature was a very warm and oppressive 88F/31C and the minimum temperature was 74F/24C. 7.2 hours of sunshine were recorded. The 21st had a very unsettled start, with showers and thunderstorms, heavy at times. 2.43 inches of rain fell, making it the wettest day of the year so far. A trough moving through the dominant high on the 24th brought light rain and showers (0.09") under significant cloud cover (just 2.6 sun hours) with a high of 83F/29C and a low of 78F/25C. The high strengthened to the west on the 25th with dry weather and considerable sunshine (12 hours). The high was 85F/29C, then falling to 79F/26C. High pressure continued the settled theme on the 26th, with generally dry (no rain at airport) and sunny conditions. With 11.6 hours of sunshine, temperatures rose to 85F/30C, while the low was 80F/27C. Wednesday the 27th of July was a mainly dry day, although there were a few showers in the vicinity. During the afternoon, there was a classic "Morgan's Cloud" which developed over the Island and this spawned several funnel clouds offshore St David's. There were only 7 hours of sunshine recorded and the max temperature was 87F/30C, with a low of 80F/27C. Sea Temperature was recorded at 85F/30C. The 28th and 29th was under the influence of high pressure to the east that produced a warm, moist, humid southerly flow across the area. This southerly flow brought mainly fine conditions with 11.1 hours of sunshine with no rainfall on the 28th and 11.6 hours of sunshine on the 29th with a trace of rainfall. The high on the 28th was 86F/30C with a low of 79F/26C. The 29th high was 87F/31C with a low of 79F/26C.
